Sono andata a vedere le mostre in corso a Palazzo Strozzi: ‘Americani a Firenze’ e ‘American Dreamers’.
Ho passato quasi 5 ore tra una mostra e l’altra, le opere esposte sono di altissima qualità. Vi rimando ai siti ufficiali se volete maggiori informazioni, io ero interessata soprattutto all’opera di Mandy Geer, segnalatami da una gentile blogger (non ricordo purtroppo chi fosse).




I went visiting the present exhibitions in Palazzo Strozzi:  ‘Americani a Firenze’ and ‘American Dreamers’.
I spent nearly 5 hours between the 2 exhibitions, the works on show are of a very high quality. Have a look at the official websites for more information, I was mostly interested in Mandy Geer, whose work was pointed out to me by a kind blogger (who was she unfortunately I do not remember).
      

Inutile dirlo, vero? Questa signora è una ‘fiber artist’ che usa soprattutto fibre nelle sue opere. Uncinetto, trecce, perline, tessuto, cuciture: tutto viene armoniosamente utilizzato per queste installazioni fantastiche che sembrano provenire da un mondo mitologico ed irreale.




Guess what: this lady is a fiber artist who mostly uses fibers in her artwork. Crochet, braids, beads, fabric, stitches: everything is harmoniously employed for these fantastic installations that seem to come from a mythological and dreamy world.
