What is more comfortable and satisfying than knitting on a rainy weekend, suffering from a bout of back ache?
I finished the socks, they are warm and fun. First Daughter will appreciate them, it has been a while since I made something for her. Knitting for my children makes me feel closer to them, and they appreciate. The only exception being First Son that every time tells me: ‘But Mamma, I live in California!’ as if there was never fresh.
I went to the movies to see the last one of Meryl Streep ‘Hope Springs’. It is a bout a couple that after 30 years of marriage tries to mend the relationship with the help of a psychotherapist (her idea). Beyond any consideration on the actors’ skills or personal identification, I found the movie kind of restrictive. The message I got is the following: if everything works again in the bedroom, as a consequence understanding, complicity, consideration and respect come to life as well. I have my doubts, on the contrary I think that in a successful marriage the reverse happens. What do you think?
Going back to knitting, how could I stop with all those little balls of wool on my couch? Therefore, inspired by Cinciarella I am working on these mittens that allow me to feed my imagination.
Have a nice week, may it be serene and full of creativity.
Bellissime le calze! Calde, colorate e allegre.

A presto.
belle! pero ne ho un problema linguistico-visuale: calze in catalano vol dire mutandine :)
RispondiEliminabuona settimana anche a te.
You are so clever knitting those socks I'm sure that your daughter will enjoy wearing them very much, I know how much pleasure it brings my girls to wear things that have been created just for them. I hope that your back is feeling better today. Have a lovely week.
RispondiEliminaBeautiful socks, Blandina, I love the colors together! Knitting and crocheting are both good for your health and they are so enjoyable to do. Hope your week will be lovely and without backache.
RispondiEliminaLovely socks! As for the movie, I saw it some time ago and was disappointed. The actors' performances were great of course but the film was so simple and limited giving a simple solution, the kind that I don't believe in at all. I agree with you, in real life things go the other way around. I thought it must be because men were in charge in the film making. However, the writer turns out to be a woman in her mid-thirties, only a couple of years older than my son. I am shocked. My only explanation is that the film was not supposed to describe real life but to entertain but at least to me it wasn't entertaining enough to be taken purely as a comedy.
RispondiEliminastupende !!!
RispondiEliminaCiao Ale
love what you're doing with all your bits of yarn. beautiful socks.
RispondiEliminaGreat socks! I haven't seen the movie but when I picked it up at the video store I just groaned when I read the blurb. Then again, I have no idea what makes a successful marriage. Maybe two houses with occasional meetings in the middle!
RispondiEliminaWow, love the socks Blandina! I would wear them, even in California!
RispondiEliminaI have the same opinion as you about successful marriages.
It's really chilly here this morning (just 6°C) so your beautiful socks are just what my feet need!
RispondiEliminaHoping your back is better. Love the socks. I also saw that film and thought it was good for a few laughs and a few poignant tears but not very realistic.
RispondiEliminafantastic socks Blandina, they make me feel like dancing. As for Hollywood movies - I gave them up a long time ago, don't think they know anything about life or what most people think is entertaining- it's all about sex and money.
RispondiEliminayes, i agree, the bedroom reflects the state of the marriage, not visa versa. & love the socks.
RispondiEliminaciao cara Blandina, come stai?
troppo acida?
bacioni!!
Oh, Blandina, the sox are wonderful! After hanging out at the wool festival this summer I am seriously thinking about learning to knit. You are an inspiration for sure. As for the movie....I think I agree with you......although most of my experience has been like the movie, except without that sexy end. My first was with no respect or consideration, and I thought my second marriage was with with it.....although neither one lead to comfort in the area of concern. I think I'm with Heather......
RispondiEliminami fanno molta invidia quelle calze
RispondiEliminaIt is getting cooler here and those warm socks look so inviting. I am wearing a wonderful pair of Italian hand knit beauties today as a matter of fact. The shop studio open next week and I'll be busy with that for a while. I am looking forward to a quiet....impossibly quiet Christmas this year. best to you, bryan
RispondiEliminaThe socks are gorgeous, Blandina! I am no good a knitting and cannot turna sock heel. My mother, however, was very good at it.
